As an alumna of La Biennale di Venezia Danza College, La Biennale di Venezia Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica and the prestigious Festival de Cannes, Dorotea is an acclaimed independent Canadian choreographer and performer presenting works internationally.

Known for her sensitive and rich, yet rigorous physical language, Dorotea was selected by Sir Wayne McGregor for La Biennale di Venezia Danza College in 2024. There she created and staged the immersive performance work ‘Lethe - A Search for the Waters of Oblivion’.  That same year, her stage work ‘Black Moon’, was shortlisted amongst the top seven works for the Sadler's Wells Inaugural Rose Prize.

With a strong focus on creating experiences that invite audiences to reconnect to instinct and explore the subconscious, Dorotea gained acclaim in 2021 with her work RELIC when she was selected by Emily Molnar as the inaugural recipient of the Emily Molnar Emerging Choreographer Award. She has since been commissioned by companies such as Ballet BC, Ballet Edmonton and Danish Dance Theater.

Dorotea’s work spans across stage, film and installation. Her film She premiered at the Fotografiska Museum New York, garnered several awards and screened at over 40 international film festivals. She often collaborates closely with her partner, film director Emil Dam Seidel. Together they work across disciplines to create experiences that shake people out of the brain and into the body. Their holographic, mixed reality experience, Telos I, premiered in the inaugural Compétition Immersive at the 77th Festival de Cannes, making history as the only holographic film ever selected for competition at the Festival.  Subsequently, the work was selected for the Best of Immersive Experiences program at the 81st Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica.

Originally from Montreal, Dorotea has enjoyed a rewarding career as a dancer at the Compagnie Marie Chouinard (2006-2014) where she received the Gemini Award for Best Performance along with the cast of bODY_rEMIX.  She later danced at the GöteborgsOperans Danskompani (2014-2019) and has worked with renowned choreographers such as Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Sharon Eyal, Damien Jalet and Ohad Naharin.
